Counseling for Adolescents & Parents
Adolescents…
Do you find certain relationships hard (friends, dating, parents, siblings)? Do you feel unvalued, disappointed, frustrated or unheard?
Do you find that certain unwanted feelings seem to stick around with you longer than you would like (sadness, anxiousness, stress, etc)?
Do you find that a lot of your time is focused on thinking about what wrong, what should be happening or nothing is going to change or get better?
Do you find yourself feeling on edge and irritated to where you either just explode or maybe just shut down?
Relationships can be encouraging, fun and adventurous AND they can also be hurtful, lonely and disappointing
Emotions can feel exciting and pleasurable AND they also can be all over the place or even numb at times.
Thoughts can be inspiring and encouraging AND they can also be conflicting, negative and overwhelming
Behaviors can be playful, energetic and connecting AND they can also be un-motivating, stuck, isolated and reactive at times.
Learning to navigate adolescence can be tough and messy at times. If you answered yes to any of the questions above, let me encourage you by saying there is HOPE to be found, there is a possibility in discovering the part of you that longs to be seen and heard. If you think you might be ready to take this journey, feel free to give me and call or email and we can talk further.
Parents…
Do you find yourself constantly at odds with your teenager? Does it seem like there is unending battle in your home? Do feel at a loss and exhausted in how to connect and hold boundaries with your teenager? Does it seem like other relationships are being impacted as a result (ie. marriage)?
Adolescence is a unique season of life that is ever evolving with the culture, with so many outside influences, that it seems to be battling with you for a voice into your teenagers life.
In my 15yrs of experience working with teenagers and their families I have come to learn and impart insight and hope towards engaging and empowering both the teenager and parents into a renewed and impactful relationship with themselves and with one another.
